The TACTICS Team

Theatre Artists’ Co-operative: the Independent Collective Series or TACTICS is Ottawa’s innovative theatre series for independent productions, curated by Lydia Talajic and Micah Jondel DeShazer.

TACTICS creates a platform for local indie artists to push theatrical limitations, share their stories with more of the community and dream big with their art.

  • A NYC transplant and newly ecstatic resident of Ottawa, Micah is excited to collaborate with the exceptional talent here in Canada’s capital. He hails from the States where he began his career: and over the last 15 years between Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago and Madison he is developed into an accomplished actor, director, musician and artistic leader and educator.

    He had quickly immersed himself in the Ottawa theater community, acting in several local works, musical directing at Orpheus Theatre (Memphis), directing independent works (Puzzles, FRINGE), and more.

    Always seeking the unexpected and drawn to passionate artists, Micah is honored to be working with TACTICS since March of 2022. Notable projects include: Tempest (Torchlight Theater - Company of Fools), Matilda (CTM), Passing Strange (iTheatre Collaborative) & Native Son (ariZoni, Best Actor).

  • Lydia Talajic (she/her/elle) is Franco-Ontarienne artist and administrator based in Ottawa with ten years experience. Her work as a stage manager has taken her from Winnipeg to Quebec City, having worked for companies such as Theatre Conspiracy, Théâtre la Vieille 17, Théâtre La Catapulte, Fresh Meat Festival, and a Company of Fools. As an administrator, she has worked for Down the Well Productions, a Company of Fools, Youth Infringement Festival, and the Ottawa Fringe Festival. The Ottawa Arts Council awarded Lydia with the prestigious Victor Tolgesy Arts Award (2022) for her important contribution to the cultural life in the City of Ottawa, and is the youngest recipient in the award’s 30+ year history.
