NEW CALL FOR PROPOSALS: Online Workshop Series

Theatre Artists’ Co-operative: The Independent Collective Series (TACTICS) invites artists, creators, collectives and companies to submit a proposal for a project in development to Ottawa’s curated and cooperative indie theatre series.

We are currently accepting proposals for projects in various stages of development for consideration in our 2020 Online Workshop Series.

TACTICS provides independent creators and producers a development and presenting platform, affording artists the opportunity to take risks and dream big with their art. Given the realities and restrictions of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have transferred our regular Workshop Series of new plays to an online format, continuing to support development and collaboration by artists as they connect through video platforms like Zoom. With this shift, we now have more funds available to pay out to local artists and so are looking for new projects!

TACTICS seeks to ensure Ottawa is a city for artistic development. Our artists can create work in response to the needs of the story and the artists involved, and they strive for artistic excellence. Further, TACTICS aims to program timely and relevant works that make the most of the liveness of theatre. We believe that to build and maintain an audience for live theatre, productions must create a meaningful theatrical experience that represent diverse voices and respond to the challenges of our world.

TACTICS will support selected artists by providing:

  • the opportunity to workshop your script online for up to 25 hours, with a public reading
  • online technical and promotional support
  • a guaranteed artist fee for each participant in the workshop
  • artistic feedback where appropriate
  • and (most importantly) a collaborative development environment

For more information regarding developing new work and producing with TACTICS, please email series curator Bronwyn Steinberg at tactic.series@gmail.com.

Artists interested in participating in the Online Workshop Series during the summer of 2020 are invited to submit a proposal anytime from May 20 – June 15, 2020.
